Shepherd

Shepherd indeed holds out promise to the many youths who have big dreams, but little or no material means to fulfill them. Their faith and determination to utilize the talents that God has given them could catapult them beyond their wildest dreams.

Horace Hall, popularly known as Shepherd since he has taken on what he regards as his God-given purpose to guide lost sheep home to Christ, grew up in one of Kingston's inner-city communities. He attended Jamaica College, which could have opened many other doors for this bright young man, but his love for music influenced him to linger around sound systems like Black Scorpio and King Stur Gav, waiting for his turn to make a name for himself as a DJ.

As a teenager, Shepherd sang with sound systems in his community until he became the heart and soul of the Ghetto Roots. Shepherd thought that he had found his true calling in life as he had become very popular because of his very entertaining compositions and clear, powerful and melodious voice. He intended to give up his dream of having a career in music though, when he became a Christian in 1991. However, his talent could not be easily buried and forgotten, because he auditioned for and won the part as a singer/DJ in a production put on by his church.

Since then, he has sung on the choir and performed in numerous musicals. This was the birth of Shepherd's musical career as a gospel singer/DJ. He immediately became the local star in the church and his numerous fans could not have enough of him. Shepherd came to realize that although his negative past would see him as an outcast, through God's mercy it would not keep him there. With this in mind Shepherd accept his calling and since then has combined his mission to lead souls to Christ with his message of hope and salvation for all.

He has collaborated his efforts with musical genius Danny Brownie of Main Street Records and has produced four singles featured on the YOW 3 and YOW 4 albums; namely "All A We," "Born Again," "Who Me," and "What a Day," which is his greatest hit to date. There are other singles produced by Danny Brownie featuring Shepherd, such as "Jesus Party" on the YOW 3 album with Papa San, Prodigal Son, DJ Nicolas, and others; "Rapapampam" alongside Crissy D; Run the Race done by Ryan Mark; and Joy to the World with Omari. Then by other producers songs like Crying featuring Andrene Lewis, "God mek mi Live."
