Dwayne Murphy

Born on the 12th day of January 1984 to Charmaine Haughton and Dennis Murphy, Murphy had a promise, a promise of a bright future, if only everyone else knew that

He never thought he could have made it this far. Experiencing the overwhelming feeling after a great performance, witnessing the enthusiastic response of a delighted crowd, being able to pour out and watch souls being blessed by his ministry. This was just a figment of his imagination.

Murphy began his singing ministry as one of the lead singers of the Sunday school choir at his home church, Tavern Bible Way Apostolic. He later moved up to the youth choir when the Lord decided to seal him by filling him with his Holy Spirit. Nothing could stop him now, even though it was said by many that he would not be successful in anything good, but that was a lie from the pit of hell, that was a curse which was soon to be reversed.

Despite growing up in a poor family with only a mother and three brothers at that time in what we would now call a shack, making numerous trips to a standpipe nearby in order to have water in the home, walking to school and back because he had no money to take the bus and even going to bed some nights not knowing where the next meal will come from

Many would say you must have done something to deserve a life like this, but it was not so. God found favor with him but for gold to come forth pure, it must be tried by fire then beaten and tried again, so he had to endure hardship.

When he answered his calling, he was not even sure what he had answered to, but his determination was great. Practicing on his own, sometimes listening to songs on the radio and singing along to extend his range as a singer, he also developed a passion for writing songs.

It was at this point that Murphy recognized that his true purpose was to evangelize through music. So he decided to take his ministry to the world wide, and yes! I did say ‘world’. Murphy has traveled throughout Jamaica, Caribbean Countries and The United States of America (USA) and shared stage with artistes such as Micah Stampley, Byron Cage, Fred Hammond, Papa San and Prodigal Son just to name a few.

He is known for his hit singles “father all we need is love,” “Run to you,” “Kill my flesh,” let Christ love you” and “forgive me.” He also has a video out for the song “forgive me” which in under heavy rotation on local TV stations, in addition to this Murphy three (3) nominations for the 2009 Mega Jams Awards for the best video, best male vocalist and most inspirational song of the year.

Murphy released is debut album on the 17th of July, 2009 titled “Posture To Praise,” the album has a mixture of R&B, Pop, Reggae and praise & worship. He has been touring with his new album in Jamaica, USA, and the Caribbean.

This new artiste is ready to take the place by storm, to fulfill his heart’s desire and to be a catalyst of change.
